They initially met on a dating app and spent weeks texting and talking before meeting in person — not small talk, but the kind of conversations where you slowly begin to explore each other’s worlds, values, and ways of thinking. When they finally decided to meet… Matt anxiously awaited, while Nikol arrived 20 minutes late after accidentally going to the wrong park!  — it quietly became the first and only first date they would ever need.

It was a warm, sunny day. Nikol wore a dress. Matt kept it casual. They sat on a park bench, talked, laughed, and lost track of time until the sun went down.

On their second “not-a-date,” they met again at a different park, just to walk and talk. 

This time, Nikol brought homemade chocolate chip cookies to even things out.

She didn’t know, that chocolate chip cookies were Matt’s favorite.

As he was driving away, he rolled down his truck window, biting into a cookie, smiled, and shouted, “I’m hooked!”
